Overview
The VTCT Level 1 NVQ Certificate in Beauty Therapy certifies competence as an assistant junior beauty therapist. Designed for learners aged 16 and over, this qualification equips individuals with skills essential for entry-level roles in commercial beauty salons. Units cover areas such as salon maintenance, client interaction, health and safety, and basic beauty services assistance. Graduates can pursue employment as assistant junior beauty therapists or progress to Level 2 qualifications, including NVQ Diplomas and specialized beauty therapy studies. Recognized by industry standards and supported by BABTAC, this qualification provides a foundational pathway for career development in the beauty therapy sector.
Requirements
- Applicants must be aged 18 or over.
- A Level 3 qualification or apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy or equivalent industry experience is required for direct entry to Level 4.
- Completion of a First Aid at Work qualification or equivalent is mandatory.
Course Outline
- The qualification comprises four mandatory units, totaling 35 credits:
- Health, safety, and hygiene for aesthetic procedures
- Client consultation for aesthetic procedures
- Skin rejuvenation using micro needling
- Skin rejuvenation using superficial chemical peels
- The course duration is flexible, with a recommended completion time of up to 6 months. Fast track options are available to accommodate varying learning paces.

- Client Consultation for Aesthetic Procedures: Conduct thorough consultations to understand client needs and tailor procedures accordingly.
- Skin Rejuvenation Using Micro needling: Utilise micro needling techniques to rejuvenate facial and body skin, addressing imperfections and pigmentary conditions.
